Initial D Wiki

Ryosuke Takahashi's Mazda SAVANNA RX-7 ∞ III (FC3S) (known as the FC, FC3S or as the White Comet of Akagi) is one of the main vehicles in the Initial D series. It is used by Ryosuke Takahashi during his time as the White Comet of Akagi, and later as the leader of the Akagi RedSuns before he retires from racing to lead Project D.

History[]

Manga/Anime/Legends[]

The White Comet of Akagi[]

Ryosuke was originally a solo racer, racing with his FC as the White Comet of Akagi (or Akagi's White Comet). He had also competed in, and won, several Gymkhana competitions.

Ryosuke also had a rivalry with Kyoichi Sudo, with the two of them disagreeing on street racing theory, with Ryosuke challenging Sudo to beat him if he believes his theory correct.

Akagi RedSuns[]

Ryosuke would go on to form the Akagi RedSuns, inviting racers to join based on their skill level. Ryosuke and the RedSuns aim to be the best racers in all of the Kanto Plain, desiring to set records on every course in the region.

The RedSuns travel to Akina to challenge their local team, the Akina SpeedStars. Initially uninterested in the Akina battle, he becomes intrigued after his brother, Keisuke, is defeated by a mysterious Eight-Six. After the Eight-Six, driven by Takumi Fujiwara, represents the SpeedStars and beats Keisuke for a second time on Akina, Ryosuke vows revenge.

Not long after the battle between Keisuke and Takumi, Ryosuke enters an impromptu battle against Takeshi Nakazato of the Myogi NightKids. After the short-lived battle, Ryosuke tells Takeshi that he believes that the only one who can beat Takumi would be him and his FC.

A short while later, Ryosuke issues a formal challenge to Takumi, sending a bouquet of flowers with the date and time of their battle. Before the battle, Ryosuke tunes his car so that his horsepower is lower. Ryosuke stays behind at the beginning of the battle, copying Takumi's techniques and speed to throw him off. At the first of the five hairpins, Takumi understeers due being under pressure, allowing Ryosuke to pass him. Takumi follows Ryosuke, slowly shortening the distance between the two of them. Takumi manages to overtake and win when Ryosuke's tires lose grip, causing him to slip out. Because of his loss, Ryosuke retires from racing, instead leading the RedSuns from the side-lines.

Ryosuke returns to racing when Emperor comes to Akagi as part of their Gunma sweep. Ryosuke is personally challenged by Kyoichi Sudo, finally ready to prove that his theory is true. Ryosuke takes the lead early in the race, maintaining this with text book perfect driving. Kyoichi passes Ryosuke in the short straight between two corners. Ryosuke manages to keep up with Sudo's Evo III, even scraping his nose against the guardrail to stay close. Exploiting Sudo's weakness when turning right, Ryosuke manages to reclaim the lead and wins the battle.

Due to a job requirement that will mean he will have to move from Gunma in a years time, Ryosuke dissolves the RedSuns in favour of creating a new team: Project D. Ryosuke reaches out to Takumi, inviting him to join his team, with the promise that everything he needs will be paid for and taken care of. Takumi spends the Autumn and Winter considering the offer before finally accepting the offer in the Springtime.

Exclusively in Third Stage, Takumi challenges Ryosuke to a battle on Akagi, so that he can prove himself before joining Project D.

Project D[]

As Ryosuke is the leader of Project D, his car is very rarely seen.

Prior to the Project D's second battle with the Todo School, Ryosuke scouts the course ahead of the others, bringing his FC out with him so he could get a proper feel of the road with his own car. Ryosuke later takes Takumi on a drive through the course, giving him some advice for his upcoming battle.

Keisuke uses the FC for his day out with Kyoko Iwase, as his car had been damaged before their previous battle. Keisuke takes Kyoko on a practice run on Akagi in the FC.

At some point, Ryosuke and Fumihiro met on Akagi, with Ryosuke having to drive Fumihiro to hospital after his stomach started to hurt.

During Project D's Kanagawa expedition, Ryosuke secretly had his FC modified by Shuichi Matsumoto, in preparation for his fated battle with the Grim Reaper of Kanagawa, Rin Hojo. Ryosuke and Hojo meet at the Daikanzan Observation Deck, and prepare for a death battle down the Hakone Turnpike. The battle is revealed to be around their mutual love of a woman named Kaori, who had committed suicide a few years prior. Hojo, bitter and angry at Ryosuke, believing him to be the reason Kaori had died, tried several times to push Ryosuke's FC off the road. As their violent and emotional battle nears its climax, Hojo's brakes are shot. Knowing this, Ryosuke attempts to use the weight of his car to stop his car, preventing him from ending his own life in a crash. With assistance from Team Spiral leader Ryuji Ikeda, Hojo's car is brought to a standstill just before the entrance to the turnpike. The two men talk about Kaori, and how she must be watching them, before departing.

Ryosuke is later seen visiting Kaori's grave in his FC, telling her about his dream in life once again.

Live Action[]

Ryosuke makes a deal with Takeshi Nakazato of the Myogi NightKids that if he can manage to beat every downhill racer in Gunma, he will allow him to race against him. The Akagi RedSuns, Ryosuke's team, and the Myogi NightKids go to Akina to meet the local team, the Akina SpeedStars. The leader of the SpeedStars, Itsuki Tachibana, races downhill against Nakazato, with Ryosuke riding shotgun. After Nakazato is beaten in an impromptu battle by an unknown Eight-Six, Ryosuke tracks down Bunta Fujiwara, an ex-racer, asking him to race against him.

After he defeats Seiji Iwaki, Takumi runs into Ryosuke on the top of Akina, where Ryosuke teaches him some of the technical aspects of his car, and how it is tuned. Takumi tells Ryosuke that he will battle him in 3 weeks time, however Takumi blows his engine on the downhill shorty after he leaves.

Three weeks later, Ryosuke and Kyoichi Sudo of Emperor both meet on Akina, ready to race Takumi. They have a three person battle, with Sudo running off the road and crashing his car half way through. This leaves just Takumi and Ryosuke to battle. Takumi overtakes Ryosuke and wins the race.

Specs[]

The car is a 1990 Mazda SAVANNA RX-7 ∞ III, chassis code FC3S. It is painted in Crystal White, which is how it gained its nickname "the White Comet of Akagi".

Engine[]

The FC is fitted with a 13B-T Twin-rotor rotary engine. The engine was originally tuned to 340PS[3], and was later detuned to 260PS for his battle against Takumi Fujiwara[4]. It was likely retuned for any subsequent battles, especially the battle with Rin Hojo, though stats are never given.
