Rin Hojo's Nissan Skyline GT-R (BNR32), known as the Skyline GT-R, the GT-R, or the R32, is the signature vehicle of Kanagawa's Grim Reaper, Rin Hojo. It is the final Skyline featured in the series.

History[]

Two years prior to the start of the series, Rin Hojo was in an arranged relationship with a woman called Kaori, with the two of them due to be married in a few years time. Another man, Ryosuke Takahashi, was also romantically interested in Kaori, and Kaori reciprocated these feelings. Kaori told Rin that she didn't wish to marry him, much to the ire of her father. Due to the backlash she had received from Rin and her father because of her decision, Kaori committed suicide, causing both Rin and Ryosuke to become depressed. Fuelled by his sadness and anger, Rin would go on to become the Grim Reaper of Kanagawa with his R32.

Rin returned during Project D's Kanagawa expedition, with the intent of racing to the death against Ryosuke. Rin ambushed Team Spiral leader Ryuji Ikeda during a downhill run on the Hakone Turnpike. Ikeda quickly realized that he was being followed by the Grim Reaper after being rammed several times, the battle was short lived however, as Ikeda pulled out of the race so that his car wasn't too badly damaged.

Rin challenges Ryosuke to a deathmatch on the Hakone Turnpike, intending for either one or both of them to die during the race. Ryosuke upgrades his FC before the race. The two drivers greet one another before setting off. After a short distance they are joined by Ikeda, who spectates their battle from behind. Rin hits Ryosuke's car several times over the course of the race, using the weight and power of his car, however Ryosuke manages to recover each time, continuing the race, and also wreaking Rin's tires and brakes. As the race nears its conclusion, Rin accepts his death and allows his car to continue barrelling towards the toll gates at the end of the course, however, Ryosuke and Ikeda use the weight of their cars and their combined brakes to prevent Rin from killing himself. After the race, Ryosuke and Rin settle their feud, and Rin decides to get rid of his R32.

Specs[]

This car is a Nissan Skyline GT-R, chassis code BNR32. It's trim is never specified in the manga or the anime[1], however the games represent it as a V-Spec II (most likely as the only other R32 driver in the game, Takeshi Nakazato, drives a V-Spec II). It is painted in Gun Gray Metallic.

Engine[]

The R32 is equipped with an RB26DETT engine, a twin-turbocharged engine.

Ryosuke estimated the car to have about 650 PS[2][3].

Custom Parts[]

  • NISMO Front bumper[4]
  • One-off Custom GT Wing[4]
  • Roll cage[citation needed]
  • Custom Racing Muffler[4]
  • OEM GT-R R33 wheels[5] (front only in manga and arcade, both front and rear in anime)
  • Work Meister S1 (rear in Manga and Arcade Stage)[5]
  • Cracked reverse light lens (only in anime)
  • Recaro bucket seats[citation needed]
  • Oil Pressure gauge[6]
  • Turbo Boost gauge[6]
  • Momo Monte Carlo (altered with no horn)[6]

Trivia[]

  • The car's number plate can be read as "minagoroshi" (3 = mi, 7 = na, 5 = go, 6 = ro, 4 = shi), which means massacre.
  • If Ryosuke's estimate is accurate, this is the most powerful car in the series.
